Susan received her BFA as well as her MFA from the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford. She has taught art in public and private schools as well as at the university level and currently provides private lessons to elderly clients. Previously represented by the White Gallery and a longtime member of the Canton Artist’s Guild, where she exhibits regularly, her work is included in many private collections.
Over the years Susan’s work has explored varied subject matter using multiple techniques; sculptures inspired by Honeybee culture, monoprints from the growth rings of trees, plein air and still life watercolor, multimedia collage. Throughout, Susan has always drawn and painted from the figure. These life drawing experiences inform how she paints the figure in her current body of work. Inspired by old family photographs, these shots from the past allow for mood, memory and interpretation to enter the composition, bringing to light where she’s been and perhaps where she’s going.
